Where the Art of Theatre Begins.....

Throughout the year Golden Valley Theatre enters the realm of competition.

These 2 festival style competitions are DTASC and Shakespeare Festival

What is DTASC?

Firstly where does DTASC get its name?

It is an acronym for “Drama Teachers Association of Southern California”.

The association’s mission statement  is to create a network where theatre educators and students can effectively communicate ideas, share resources, workshop and showcase their theatre skills. They believe in creating an environment that fosters the best in educational theatre through performance opportunities, diversity and professional adjudication, supporting and rewarding hard work and commitment to the discipline of theatre and education.

Each year there is a collection of festival competitions  throughout Southern California.  Golden Valley Theatre is a proud participant and submits various groups and individuals to partake in the fall competition.

Shakespeare Fest.

This takes place during the spring semester, usually around February and always promises to challenge all of its entrants.  The 2016 festival will be on our home turf, as GVHS Theatre plays host to the district wide competition.

The competition celebrates the work of William Shakespeare and although each year the regulations vary, the basic theme remains.  Whether performing as a Soloist, or part of a small or large group, the different styles and topics are a wonderful experience to be part of.
